Relocating to Aberdeen
Earlier this year, Keith was offered a job transfer, leading the couple to uproot and move more than 400 miles to Aberdeen. Initially, Keith moved by himself, and spent several weeks staying in a hotel room while looking for rental accommodation suitable for him and his fiancée.
To help in making Keith’s relocation to Aberdeen a smooth one, his employer offered to contribute towards the rental accommodation of his choice. Keith’s first port of call was Forbes Place by Dandara Living at Stoneywood, the first Build to Rent Scheme in Aberdeen, which features 292 fully-furnished apartments and townhouses available exclusively for rent.
I saw the development when I was travelling to work and I really wanted to check it out for Agnita and I. As soon as I saw the show apartment I knew it was the perfect place for us to stay, so I asked my boss to come round and look at it and we sorted it all out, says Keith.
Forbes Place, which recently picked up three 5 Star awards at the UK round of the International Property Awards including best residential high rise development, was designed specifically to meet continuous high-demand for rental accommodation which offers security of tenure.
Ideal Location
It’s the perfect base for us to explore the city from, Dyce train station is only a short walk away and we have an underground car parking space, which is really unusual for a rental development. There’s also space for our visitors to park as well which is really handy, added Keith.
Fully furnished apartments
It was the easiest move we’ve done; despite the fact it was the biggest in terms of distance. Our last was to a fourth-floor flat and there wasn’t a lift, so getting the dishwasher and washing machine in was a nightmare! The only thing we needed to bring with us to Forbes Place were clothes and toiletries, the whole flat was completely kitted out with really nice furniture – we could have had people round for dinner that night if we’d wanted to. Everything is of a really high quality, and works very well. Anywhere we have lived previously has always needed a little bit of TLC to make it feel like home, whether it be a bit of decorating or sprucing up, but as soon as we moved in here it just felt natural and cosy. We were really impressed that the internet connection was included in the rental fee and there’s also access to a satellite dish. Once we moved in we could relax and enjoy our new life in Aberdeen straight away,” she added.
Forbes Place is owned by a major institutional investor, which means there’s just one landlord. Residents have peace of mind that their tenancy can last as long as they need it to. There’s no need to worry about receiving an unexpected notice to leave because the landlord has decided to sell the property or move back in themselves, which can often be the case when renting from an individual.
There are also a whole host of other benefits – all communal areas, landscaped grounds and the apartments themselves are under continuous management by Dandara Living, so are maintained to the highest standards. This makes Forbes Place an ideal choice for companies which need access to high quality accommodation for employees, and professionals who move from location to location and don’t want to rely on hotels to provide the standard of living they desire.
Satisfied tenants
This is a great place for young professionals, families with young children and people who are waiting to get on the property ladder. There’s a great sense of community within the development and all our neighbours are really friendly. The fact we don’t have a private landlord to deal with has made life so much easier. We know the Dandara Living team really well and they’ve been so helpful with day to day things like taking in packages, and always answer our questions straight away. Having them onsite has given us great peace of mind, says Keith. Everything we need is right here, and we’re so glad we made the move.
